Benefits of Kombucha

Kombucha – The Perfect Drink to Clean your Organism.

Kombucha is the name of a lichen, which ferments the mysterious drink, made of a blend of black and green teas and sugar. The knowledge of the healing power of this drink is ancient; the drink was already in use around 2,000 years ago in China and Tibet. But only in 1913, it was introduced by Russia to the rest of Europe, then fell into oblivion and was rediscovered in World War II by the German physician Dr. Rudolf Sklenar. He had met Kombucha during the war by Russian farmers and utilized it later in Germany successfully, mainly in metabolic diseases, rheumatism, gout, gastrointestinal disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes.

Kombucha is produced by the fermentation of sweetened tea and Kombucha lichen – a jellyfish-like, gelatinous community of acetic acid bacteria and yeast. Within days, a sparkling, refreshing drink arises from this rather unappetizing sounding connection.

How does Kombucha work?

Let’s have a small glimpse into the chemistry:
First the yeast converts a portion of the dissolved sugar into alcohol and carbon dioxide, and the other part of the sugar is converted to cellulose.
The result: the tea fungus grows, and the bacteria ferment the alcohol to acetic acid.

The effectiveness of Kombucha in purification and the positive influence of digestion is supported by studies, as well as the improvement of athletic performance and overall well being.

It contains natural carbonic acid and has reportedly a variety of healing properties, such as:

  • Being Pro-biotic – adding healthy living bacteria to your organism
  • Alkalizes the body – balances internal pH
  • Detoxifies the liver – happy liver = happy mood
  • Increases metabolism – boosts your internal engine
  • Improves digestion – keeps your system moving
  • Rebuilds connective tissue – helps with arthritis, gout, asthma, rheumatism
  • Cancer prevention
  • Alleviate constipation
  • Boosts energy – helps with chronic fatigue
  • Reduces blood pressure
  • Relieves headaches & migraines
  • Reduces kidney stones
  • High in antioxidants – destroys free-radicals that cause cancer
  • High in polyphenols
  • Improves eyesight
  • Heals eczema – can be applied topically to soften the skin
  • Prevents arteriosclerosis
  • Speeds healing of ulcers – kills h.pylori on contact
  • Helps clear up Candida & yeast infections
  • Aids healthy cell regeneration
  • Reduces gray hair
  • Lowering glucose levels – prevents spiking from eating

Please note: Kombucha itself does not directly “heal” anything but by bringing the body back into balance it supports your organism to heal itself naturally.

Rule of thumb for spring cleaning: 4 weeks every day to drink 250 ml three times in small sips.

Very important: Do not burden the body with meat, animal fats and sugar during this time, but rather switch to fresh fruits, vegetables and fish.

Attention! Since in the drink still can be found up to 1% Vol. alcohol, it is not recommended for children and people formerly addicted to alcohol!
