Taking Alfalfa seeds seems to lower total cholesterol and “bad” low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in people with high cholesterol levels as it seems to prevent cholesterol absorption in the gut.

Besides that it is used as a detoxing agent to CLEANSE THE LIVER AND BLOODSTREAM. It may also be beneficial in treating mild cases of anemia and RESTORING HEMOGLOBIN LEVELS to a normal range.

The antioxidants in Alfalfa also help to fight free radicals and prevent from DNA damage. Alfalfa, also known as Lucerne, is HIGH IN PROTEIN, CALCIUM, POTASSIUM, IRON AND ZINC plus other minerals, VITAMINS in the B group, beta carotene, vitamin D, vitamin K, and as well is considered a healthy source of CHLOROPHYLL. There is reference to vitamin B1, B6, D2 and vitamin D3 being found in the Alfalfa shoot, too. Furthermore it is said to be very helpful to treat effects of the menopause as it has very SIMILAR EFFECT LIKE ESTROGEN.

However, if you are pregnant, have hormone-sensitive cancer or an inflammatory disease such as gout, you should NOT TAKE Alfalfa. Taking Alfalfa along with birth control pills might decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills.

Do not combin Warfarin (Coumadin) with Alfalfa as it contains large amounts of vitamin K. Vitamin K is used by the body to help blood clot. Warfarin (Coumadin) is used to slow blood clotting. By helping the blood clot, Alfalfa might decrease the effectiveness of warfarin (Coumadin). Be sure to have your blood checked regularly. The dose of your warfarin (Coumadin) might need to be changed.

Please always check with your health care practitioner before using any supplement! Avoid commercially grown Alfalfa, as this is generally chemically treated.
